Olympic Prayer…
I just got home from a great weekend in BC. Saturday we spent the day up in Whistler as part of the North American Prayer Summit with prayer leaders from Canada, USA, Mexico and the wonderful Whistler locals. Sunday and Monday we spent the day walking the city and in meetings- the city is full of life and people from around the world. It was great to experience the city at such a time as this.
Every day I’ve been receiving really great emails from Richard, who is also leading the International Prayer Centre at Keats island close to Vancouver. To have your name added to these emails please contact him at richard@nhop.ca
This is a small taste of the great prayer emails updates:
TODAY’S PRAYER POINT:
May the Holy Spirit lead you as you intercede in Jesus’ name.
1. Let’s continue to pray for the ”Radical Hospitality” being offered by the More Than Gold effort as they provided hot drinks to people standing in cold line ups. Pray that all the money and supplies needed to hand out the next 200,000 cups would arrive today!
2. A wonderful booklet that is also being handed out to visitors is touching many lives. It has maps, and schedules of events, but also some wonderful stories about Olympians who love the Lord. Let’s pray that this ”pocket guide” would be a seed that would fall in good ground in thousands of hearts.
3. Coastal Church in the downtown is open 24-7 for people to use as a quiet space to drop in and pray. They are also running ALPHA throughout the Olympics. Pray that they would have many divine appointments with lasting impact.
4. Pray for Christians in the Lower Mainland that they would realize it is not too late to get involved and join the work of the harvest. Pray that they would recognize the day of their visitation.
TODAY’S CITY FOCUS:
The Downtown Eastside
The Downtown East Side or DTES is Canada’s poorest postal code and possibly has the highest rate of HIV infection in the Western world. There are many ministries and social agencies working hard in this neighbourhood which is historically the original heart of the city of Vancouver.
Let’s pray for the workers who are overwhelmed during this time with extra clients who are already stressed. May the peace and compassion of God flood into the Downtown East Side today.
